Upcoming Changes to Anthem Timely Filing Policy – 90 Day Limit

Effective for all claims submitted to Anthem on or after November 1, 2019, your Anthem Provider Agreement(s) will be amended to require the submission of all professional claims for Commercial and Medicare Advantage within ninety (90) days of the date of service.  This means all claims received by Anthem on or after November 1, 2019 will be subject to a 90-day timely filing requirement, and Anthem will refuse payment if the claim is more than 90 days after the date of service.

This does not mean that it is only applicable to dates of service on or after November 1, 2019.  It is applicable to any claim received on or after November 1, 2019.  Previously, the timely filing limit for Anthem had been 1 year from the date of service.  Please submit any services for older date of service as soon as possible so that your revenue is not impacted.
